Are you feeling the pressure of new year resolutions?
Trying to start your life with a clean slate, picking up that healthy lifestyle you wanted for so long, kickstarting that dream project, doing a dry January, …
Or, are you feeling guilty because you didn’t feel into the resolution zone yet and haven’t put forward that ‘new you’ whilst 2025 already began?
If you’re already 8 days into your new year’s challenge, amazing.
If not, relaxxx. We’re not even halfway winters. We’re still in the darkest phase of the (northern hemisphere) year!
Then, what is this time for?
Even though the social construct of the calendar year makes us believe this is thé moment for change, it doesn’t come natural to take up a different lifestyle in this phase.
Look around you, at nature; everything is dormant right now, regenerating and restoring itself.

- Now is the time to prioritise REST, to create warmth and inner safety,
- to FEEL and DREAM into things,
- to ENVISION what you want, what you need, who you want to be,
- and to NOURISH your soul, to create and grow from.
Then, towards the end of winters, you can take action with clarity and direction,
so your seeds can evolve, with the growing energy & light that comes with spring.
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.“
Lao Tzu
Take time.
Don’t rush taking action.
Your resolutions & intentions will rise naturally,
when you give yourself slowness, rest and nourishment in winter.
We live in such a high paced society.
Don’t let it fool you.
We are cyclical.
Beautiful, purposeful things take time and space to evolve.
Align with your natural rhythm, rather than with society’s rhythms.
And trust your timing.
Tip: use shorter cycles for Resolutions
It can be such a relief ànd game changer to use shorter cycles for resolutions,
so you remain connected with your vision for the calendar year,
and, even more importantly, connected with yourself.
Align yourself with shorter cycles,
- to repetitively check-in with your changing needs,
- to feel the reassurance that you can start anew each new cycle,
- to balance your energy & focus,
- to give yourself space for taking small steps towards those bigass dreams.
I love to use my menstrual cycle and/or the moon cycle for this.
🌀 Reflection prompt: How are you approaching the start of this calendar year?
And, what shorter cycles could work for you for setting resolutions?
With love,
