Reawakening with Spring

a season of inner & outer renewal

We are nearly halfway through spring here in India, while in Europe the season is just beginning to bloom. Hence, a sweet moment to explore what spring means – both around and within us – and what treasures it holds for cyclical living

Cyclical living

Cyclical living is about being aware of nature’s rhythms, our inner rhythms, and how these influence us.

  1. It’s starts with remembering what these cycles stand for – because we are part of them, no matter how much we are caught up in man-made routines and artificially created timeframes.
  2. Then, it’s about aligning our lifestyle with these cycles: living in ways that support and sustain our energy, creativity and wellbeing.
The more we tune into these cycles, the more flow, presence, and balance we can invite into our lives.
  3. Ultimately, it’s about learning how to work with and build on these cycles, so we can express ourselves fully and freely.

🌿 The more you pay attention, the more patterns you’ll see, and the more connected you’ll feel – to yourself, your surrounding and mama nature.

The season of spring

One of the most easily observable cycles is that of the seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. In places like India, we also experience monsoon and pre-winter.
But, before reading on and getting all my spring spoilers, I invite you to feel into this season for yourself.

🌀 Reflection prompt: What does spring mean to you? What images, scents, colours, sounds or feelings come to your mind & body?

Here’s what comes up for me:
Freshness. Lightness.
Lush green grass. Trees sprouting tiny buds on their barren branches.
From early cycle rides in Belgium, I remember birdsongs returning and ‘tsjirping up’ the mornings. And dew magically sparkling on newly sown fields.
The sun rising earlier each day, and setting later each eve. A sense of joy with the growing minutes of light and the increasing temperature.
The rains come, nourishing the land and painting it greener, leaving a unique smell.
Blossoms burst into colour and fall on the ground like snowflakes.
Insects buzz with renewed life.
There’s this feeling of hope, of movement after stillness.
A desire to go outside, to create, to begin again.
Excitement.
A reawakening, bringing positivity and motivation.

1. Remembering: What does spring stand for?

Spring is nature’s reawakening.
After the deep stillness, letting go and inward pull of winter, there’s a return of light and growth.
The air smells different. The soil feels softer. Life is stirring.
🌸 Spring is associated with:

  • New beginnings (Did you know that, in Hinduism and astrology, the new year is welcomed at the start of spring?)
  • Growth and expansion
  • Colours and creativity
  • Playfulness and curiosity
  • Increasing energy and optimism

But spring also comes with sensitivity. Everything is tender. We are tender.
Our systems are still adjusting—just like seedlings, we’re not yet fully rooted.
Spring reminds us of the value of gentle beginnings.

🌀 Reflection prompt:
Feel a bit more, how does this season influence you? What does it do on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level?

2. Spring alignment

Just as trees begin to blossom and animals return to movement, we too are reawakening.
🌸 Spring is a natural time to:

  • Slowly turn outwards by reconnecting with your environment and people
  • Receive creative downloads
  • Bring more movement into your body
  • Be innocent and playful
  • Bring something new to life

But pace matters. We’re still soft, still sensitive from the dark, cold winter. In our fast-paced society, it’s tempting to jump straight into action with this rise of energy. Many of us try to sprint ahead, feeling inspired to bring the visions we might have received during menstruation to life, or motivated to share our creative sparks with the world. However, we are popping out of our cocoon. Take time to stretch, warm up, move gradually. Keep space to pace, to remain connected with your inner world.

3. Building on spring’s energy

This is thé time to plant seeds—literally and metaphorically.
It’s a powerful moment to start new projects, act on those new ideas you have, initiate collaborations or pick up that practice.

It’s also a great moment to (re-)start, structure, or share the things you resist or block on. (Exactly why this blog has been called to life now!)
With the season’s freshness, excitement and sense of hope, there is less tendency to get caught up in overthinking.

🌸 Suggestions for spring-aligned action:

  • Be extra kind & gentle with this tender version of yourself
  • Remind yourself that pacing isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity
  • Root into your body through movement, walking barefoot, tapping or doing breath practices
  • Spend time in nature and observe what all is flourishing – and what’s blooming in you
  • Let go of any specific goals and agenda, so you can drop the pressure of specific outcomes and results
  • Keep things playful and simple – so you stay easier connected with yourself. Focus on one thing at a time
  • Take your time. See it as your lil moment of rebellion against this fast-paced world. Dare taking the risk of delaying your reply & finishing a to-do. Take a pause. This is not procrastination, this is pacing!
  • Keeping the points above in mind, take the first step(s) for a fresh creative project, and
  • Start with something you’ve been resisting over the past weeks/months – you’ll be surprised how easy it may come to you now
  • Schedule regular check-ins: what can you do to work with the spring energy? And are you keeping time for pacing?

There’s courage in beginning. Be playful. Take risks. Let the season inspire you.

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”
– Margaret Atwood

4. Relating to the menstrual cycle: inner spring

The follicular phase of the menstrual cycle is referred to as inner spring. It’s the time after menstruation (inner winter), when oestrogen rises. The qualities and sensitivities related to nature’s spring, can also be sensed during our inner spring. It’s a tender yet potent time.

Through observing your unique inner spring experience, you become more aware of your menstrual cycle and lay a great foundation for cyclical living. Understanding this phase and respecting its pace allows for smoother cycles and enhanced wellbeing.

💫 Practice inspo: during your next 3 inner springs/follicular phases, sense what qualities and sensitivities rise for you.

In summary

🌸 Spring offers us:

  • A sense of hope & renewal
  • Playful momentum
  • Creativity & clarity
  • A rise in energy, and
  • The reminder to pace ourselves

I wish you to honour your rhythm, connect with spring’s subtleties, and plant your seeds with intention, as you move through this season – externally or within your menstrual cycle.

With love,
Stéphanie 🌞🌙
